- Link to CMIP6 data
The GFDL ESGF Node is currently unavailable temporarily due to pending updates. Users are requested to use an ESGF Tier-1 node (linked above) to access CMIP6 data from GFDL models at the moment. On the search interface, select "show all replicas" while searching for GFDL data

These files are needed to correct some CM4/ESM4/OM4p5B datasets (uo,vo,tauuo, tauvo) on the native ocean model grid.
See the CMIP6 Errata service (issue link) for the complete list of affected datasets and instructions for fixing.

GFDL SPEAR Large Ensemble Publicly Available Output
Selected output from 30-member ensembles of climate change simulations over the period 1921-2100 are available for download here. These simulations were conducted with the 50 km version of the SPEAR climate model. The simulations used historical radiative forcing for the period 1921-2014 and SSP5-8.5 forcing for the period 2015-2100.
Ocean Data Assimilation Experiments (ODA)
North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program (NARCCAP)
Coordinated Ocean-ice Reference Experiments (CORE)
NMME Experiments
The US National Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) is an experimental multi-model seasonal forecasting system consisting of coupled models from US modeling centers including NOAA/NCEP, NOAA/GFDL, IRI, NCAR, NASA, and Canada's CMC.

Our Data Portal Services
Public data sets from GFDL are made available through the GFDL Data Portal. The Data Portal is designed to allow one to download files, display data files attributes, and graphically display the data. One can download complete files via "http" and "ftp" access. One can also display data file attributes that provide information about file contents without having to download the file itself.
Data Storage
The data files on the data portal are stored in netCDF (network Common Data Form), and can be identified by the suffix ".nc". The files are intended to be compliant with the COARDS conventions for the standardization of netCDF files. More information about netCDF, a machine independent format for representing array-oriented scientific data, can be found at the Unidata Program Center netCDF website.
Software
This site has implemented the following in the past:
- the Distributed Oceanographic Data System (DODS) package from Unidata/ UCAR
- the Grid Analysis and Display System - DODS Server (GDS) package from COLA/ IGES
- Live Access Server (LAS) package from PMEL/ NOAA. (Please note: Users of LAS require a web browser that supports Java and JavaScript.)
